This week's feature for WOW is the first book for a new series and it's a collaboration of two authors. Guess who? Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. How freaking cool is that? I'm so thrilled about the whole idea. Like I'm fangirling when I've stumbled upon this.
From NEW YORK TIMES bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare comes a riveting new series that defies what you think you know about the world of magic.
From two bestselling superstars, a dazzling and magical middle-grade collaboration centering on the students of the Magisterium, an academy for those with a propensity toward magic. In this first book, a new student comes to the Magisterium against his will -- is it because he is destined to be a powerful magician, or is the truth more twisted than that? It's a journey that will thrill you, surprise you, and make you wonder about the clear-cut distinction usually made between good and evil.

Holy Dumbledore! Are you fudging serious? The blurb. It looks and it feels like Harry Potter. Are you effing kidding me? Whatever. I can't wait to read it. Ha! Ha! No negative reactions about the blurb will have me thinking twice in reading this. This will be published on the 9th of September 2014 by Scholastic Books and I want it!!
Found another blurb from Cassandra Clare's blog. Look!
Most kids would do anything to pass the Iron Trial. Not Callum Hunt. He wants to fail. All his life, Call has been warned by his father to stay away from magic. If he succeeds at the Iron Trial and is admitted into the Magisterium, he is sure it can only mean bad things for him. So he tries his best to do his worst – and fails at failing. Now the Magisterium awaits him — a place that’s both sensational and sinister, with dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future. The Iron Trial is just the beginning, for the biggest test is still to come…
Cassandra also confirmed that this would be a five book series.
Four books will follow, one for year of Call’s life from twelve to seventeen, as he comes of age in a world where child apprentices train to be warriors and dark magicians seek to defeat even death. There’s not much else I can say about the books yet, as I’m sworn to secrecy, but I’ve always wanted to write with Holly, and I can definitely say the collaboration has produced characters I love and a story I hope you’ll find as funny, dark, adventurous and unexpected as I do. -- Cassandra Clare
Yeah. That's so Harry Potter. I'm convinced, but I'm still excited about the book. I love Harry Potter and I miss all the characters. Perhaps Black and Clare could bring them back to life in the form of this series. Really, I have no issues if this is a Harry Potter rip-off or not. I'm just so excited! 😃
Waiting on Wednesday was started by Breaking the Spine and serves to showcase those books that aren’t released yet, but that we’re eagerly awaiting!
