The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1)
Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love. She’s wrong.

I've started reading this Saturday I think and I'm already on chapter 19. So far, I've been having nightmares too. I find it funny. I'm a freak. Ha! Ha! My imagination is infinite. The very reason I'm not into scary reads and the like. I'm not saying this is so scary, but there were pages that kicked my imagination into overdrive. I'll save those thoughts for the book review though.
Browsed reviews and here's some good ones:
Oh my goshhhhh! This book was just amaaaazing! So spooky and eerie and full of awesomeness. I fell in love with Noah completely. I love Mara's sarcasm and wit. Fantastically written. And dayum that ending! I need the next book now! If you haven't picked this book up already, go and do it now!
You know those books, that look you in the eyes and take you captive, embeds tiny little hooks into your every thought, until you are given another taste of the supple words? Well. This book is so much more than that! To make it short and sweet: read the damn book, and the let the story take you prisoner. This is one of my favorites by far.
I believe my immediate reaction tweet was: "mind=blown." Or something along those lines. And that CLIFFHANGER. Agh, I can't believe we have to wait to find out what happens next! The greatest thing about this book (and this author) is that I could probably never accurately guess where Michelle ends up taking this story. Refreshingly unpredictable. *applauds*

I've fished one star reviews to boot:
Welcome to yet another teen romance masquerading as a paranormal novel. If you’re like me, you’ve been salivating to read this book for months because of the breathtaking cover—and of course, the premise of a girl waking up in a hospital with no memory of how her friends were killed is pretty intriguing. I’m sorry to say, however, that the maddening phenomenon I’m calling “cover fraud” strikes again, since this is another book whose interior does not live up to its beautiful cover art.
Don't be fooled- this is not a spooky ghost story like I was expecting. It was Twilight. Set in Florida. Only the main character, Mara, managed to encompass both Edward and Bella. Bleh

I am so bored of female YA protagonists being one-dimensional moralistic golden children and their love interests being beautiful and selfless and always saying the right thing. There's no crookedness or darkness or depth. Add that to the wholly uninspiring writing and every YA author now being completely incapable of writing a stand-alone novel for the sake of an "epic series" and I'm just annoyed I even gave this book the time of day. Maybe this is my problem for reading teen fiction when I'm no longer a teen, but come on YA authors... you can do something so much better with the genre, and instead you're settling to write this dumbed down garbage.

Just so you know, there are certain book bloggers and reviewers that I look up to. One of them is Wendy, the first review on the one star list. I really consider those bloggers take on any books that I read, but it doesn't necessarily mean that I depend on them. It's just painful to see that she didn't actually like this 'cause I want to like it. Well, I'm not concluding anything yet. Just saying. Let me just read and finish it for now. Book review to follow. Happy reading to me! 😊
